“Use Paint, Not Guns”: The HeART Beat of Queens

Summer is almost up and kicking! What’s the next exciting thing to try?

If you’re someone who enjoys art and is passionate about social causes, then this event is for YOU. Four hundred students from six Queens middle schools will gather at Roy Wilkins Park for the 2022 Queens HeART Beat Festival on May 26 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Also, did we mention that it’s free?

For anyone travelling to NYC, this festival will take place very close to the JFK Airport. Located conveniently near the airport is JFK INN, a hotel that delivers comfort, satisfaction of service, and accessibility to the many things happening around NYC. JFK INN is the perfect place to stay for anyone planning to attend the HeART Beat Festival. Roy Wilkins Park is located conveniently at a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

This event encompasses an interactive, arts-based field day experience. The initiative deals with celebrating the completion of a campaign called “Art, a Catalyst for Change,” which is an anti-gun violence proposal.

Thrive Collective, an arts organization, works on perpetuating more initiatives towards creative learning in NYC public schools and communities. Imagining a world without any art or personal expression is unfathomable. Thrive Collective’s bold initiatives have helped many children feel safer and not resort to violence. New York City thrives on its artists. There is a certain grace and pride to seeing all kinds of individuals expressing themselves uniquely, whether it be through visual arts, dancing, crafting, creating, giving, and being.

Our future generations deserve better and empowering their accessibility and experiences in art will drive that cause even further.

Update your calendars because the magic of HeART Beat awaits you.
